At the front of our house we have about 10 steps down from the pavement. It makes the house quite private which is lovely, but the steps are dark at night, even though we have solar lamps up. They are motion activated and sometimes don’t turn on until you’re half way down (the one at the top only comes on when it feels like it, which is hardly ever).
After 5 years of being afraid of falling down them (I’m accident prone and stairs are my nemesis) I’ve done something about it!
£2 pot from B&Q, £1 solar light (comes on when it’s dark, not motion activated) from The Range, some builders sand left over from The Garden Project and some “decorative white stones” left over from The Pond Project. There are 5 of these on the staircase and I’m hoping it will give just enough light to feel like I know where the steps are. I’m also hoping that the combination of terracotta, wet sand and stones will give the pots enough weight not to blow away in the wind . Also hoping no-one decides to nick them 😆
